The National Gallery — Museum & gallery

The National Gallery's NG200 programme marks a landmark moment in the history of one of the world's great art institutions - a celebration of 200 years of art, history and public engagement. The transformation includes a comprehensively renewed Sainsbury Wing, significantly enhanced public spaces and a wide-ranging programme of improvements to visitor accessibility, ensuring the Gallery can welcome and inspire audiences for generations to come. Set against one of London's most iconic Grade I listed buildings on Trafalgar Square, the project called for the highest standards of design sensitivity and technical execution at every stage.

Rivermeade manufactured and installed both internal and external signage across the Gallery as part of this major transformation, delivering a comprehensive scheme that respects the building's heritage while fully supporting the updated visitor environment. The scheme encompasses wayfinding and directional signage throughout the Gallery's public spaces, designed to guide visitors clearly and confidently through one of the UK's most visited cultural destinations. A key innovation within the project is the introduction of changeable signage with magnetic front panels, allowing the Gallery's team to update exhibition information, event details and directional content quickly and efficiently — without disruption and without compromise to the quality of the finished installation. Rivermeade is proud to have contributed to the NG200 vision, delivering clear, adaptable and high-quality signage solutions built to serve the National Gallery and its visitors for many years ahead.
